Willis F. Ball, age 87, a beloved figure whose laughter and warmth touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2025, under the care of Fairhope Hospice. Born on July 12, 1937 in Newark, Ohio, Willis lived a life filled with purpose, generosity, and love.

A proud graduate of Summit High School, Class of 1955, Willis embarked on a remarkable career as an associate engineer for Western Electric, AT&T, and later, Lucent Technologies. His professional journey was not just a testament to his skills but also to his deep-seated desire to mentor and uplift those around him. To his colleagues and friends, he was a guiding light—always giving of his time and knowledge, embodying a spirit that was pure-hearted and selfless.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Willis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where his adventures took him to Turkey and Spain. During his service, he learned Morse code and honed his skills in communications, roles that would reflect his keen intellect and desire to be a leader.

Willis was known for his boundless generosity and kindness. He cherished time spent with family and friends, whether on fishing trips or simple gatherings filled with good food and hearty laughter. He was a master craftsman, skilled in woodworking, and found immense joy in creating beautiful pieces from various types of wood, particularly birdhouses. His passion for carpentry was evident in his proudest accomplishments, which included building five homes and remodeling countless others. Friends and family alike marveled at his ability to bring a vision to life through his hands.

His lifelong friends, Kevin and Karen Kemmerer, and Nancy Moore, were not just companions but family, reflecting the deep connections he fostered throughout his life.

Willis leaves behind his beloved sisters, Connie (Robert) Stillwell and Bonnie Nicodemus, and his brother, Wilmer (Pat) Ball. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie Ball, and by his parents, Charles and Viola Long Ball. He was also preceded by his brother, Maynard Ball, and brother-in-law, Richard Nicodemus.

The legacy of Willis F. Ball will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His kindness, mentorship, and the joy he found in life will be missed, yet warmly remembered. As we say farewell, let us carry forward his spirit of generosity and love, which continues to inspire all who were touched by his remarkable life.
