William "Bill" F. Cox, Jr.

William “Bill” F. Cox , Jr. 86 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Pickering House.  He was born on May 8, 1936 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late William F. and Clara Cox Sr.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. in March of 1962.

Bill was a retired machinist for Babcock and Wilcox Diamond Power Specialty Co. with over 27 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 2120 and Lancaster Masonic Lodge #57 F & AM.  He was an avid golfer and loved fast cars like Mustangs.

Bill is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and David McClay of Lucasville, Ohio and Autumn and Michael Brobst of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren, Amanda and Brian Reid, Chambers McClay and Andrea Frump, Charli and Jason Montavon and Chase McClay; great grandchildren, Ally Konkler, Jaydin Konkler and Carter Brobst and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Robert “Bob” Cox, Libby Kelly, Rosie Mae Paulsen, Judy Savage and Sophie Hutchinson.

A special thank you to all the amazing people at Fairhope Hospice for the care they gave him and also his granddaughter Amanda who was by his side daily.

A graveside service will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio with Chaplain Mark Linn officiating.  The Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
