William J. Spitzer, 77, of Millersport, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.
William was a member of the Millersport United Methodist Church and a member of the Millersport American Legion Post 637. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired flooring mechanic who enjoyed a full life following retirement. He was a life long Cleveland Browns fan, enjoyed traveling, tending to his garden, and loved attending his grandchildrens many sporting events. There was not, and never will be, another husband, father or grandfather like him. He had an infectious smile and was loved by all who knew him.
William is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma Spitzer; daughters, Shari (Sean) Music, Lisa (Will) Indest, and Becky Spitzer; son, Curt (Vickie) Spitzer; grandchildren, Joe (Jan) Spitzer, Kari (John) Clark, Lee Myers, Malinda Myers, Jack Music, Hunter Music, Logan Indest, and Bobbi Indest; several great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Cassell; and brothers, Dick Spitzer and Danny Spitzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Charlie Spitzer and brother and best friend, Ed Spitzer.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, Baltimore with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Millersport Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) or Hospice of Central Ohio.
