William Quinton Quinn, 87, met eternal peace as he was surrounded by family in his home on March 17. Born September 17, 1929, in Athens County, Ohio, he went on to live a life that reflected unwavering determination and an incomparable respect for the value of hard work.
After honorably serving in the United States Army at Fort Knox, KY, William found his niche at Wallick Construction. He started as a carpenter in 1963 working his way up to Superintendent, Project Manager and Vice President in 1989. He devoted 40 years of service, retiring in 2003. He was known and beloved for his efficiency, tenacity and personable nature. He was a strong member of the community, serving as a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge of Glouster, Ohio, where he was instrumental in the building of the Lodge itself. While he found immense pleasure in his work, it was through his hobbies that he achieved genuine elation. He thrived on feeling the wind caress his face and the freedom of the open road as he navigated his Harley Davidson on extensive trips across the United States and weekend jaunts in the country. Likewise, he took great pride in his gardening and his ability to repair or build anything that needed repaired or built. He loved relaxing in the sunshine, scouting flea markets, fishing, and enjoying outdoor concerts while at his winter home in Florida. Even more than work or hobby, William dedicated his life to his family. He shared over 65 years of love and adventure with his wife and best friend, Joann, and he created unique and meaningful bonds with each of his four children. He acted as a role model and inspiration to his grandchildren, sharing wisdom, wittiness, and jovial laughs—a tradition he continued with his great-grandchildren.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Quinton and Navada Somers Quinn, and half sister, Ruth Quinn Loper. He is survived and celebrated by his wife, Joann Wright Quinn; his children, Joe (Christina) Quinn, Dan (Mary Ellen) Quinn, Cinda (Lee) Engelman, Dennis (Sandra) Quinn; nine grandchildren, Crystal(Chris)Groves, Sheila (Brian)Perry, Ashley Quinn, Lacey Martinez, and Tyler Quinn, Sarah(Jeff)Burke, Evan Engelman, Anthony Quinn, Brandon (Barbara)Quinn; and ten great-grandchildren, Owen and Quinton Groves, Jacob and Noah Perry, Joslynn Martinez, Adam, Joni, and Jack Burke, Collin and Wesley Quinn.
