William W. McCandlish, 89, Columbus, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. He was born in Bremen to the late Jesse Murl and Florence McCandlish.
William served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for a short time as a Fairfield County Deputy Sheriff and at the Defense Supply Center Columbus. He then worked in sales and delivery for Omar Bread, McClellans Dairy, and retired from Conns Potato Chips.
William is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Rosemary McCandlish; grandchildren, Holly Jo Smith and Todd (Erin) McCandlish; great grandchildren, Patrick Allen Smith, Madeline Bell McCandlish, and Colin Michael McCandlish; sister-in-law, Lavonne McCandlish; and nephews, Mike McCandlish and Mitch McCandlish.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lou McCandlish; his parents; and brother, Edwin McCandlish.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster with Reverend Mark Raddatz officiating.
