William J. Mason, Sr.

William J. Mason, 77 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away at the Chillicothe VA Sunday, October 15, 2023.

He was born to Daniel and Emma Mae Mason Lancaster, Ohio on June 29, 1946.

William was a Marine Corp veteran, and he served in the Vietnam War. He worked for Complete General in Columbus, Ohio and was a 51 year member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18.

William loved bowling, golf, hunting, fishing, karaoke, and his country music. Most of all he enjoyed joking around.

William is survived by his wife of 20 years Betty Jo (Beatty) Mason; children William (Jessica) Mason, Beth (Shannon) Roley, and Brian (Danyelle) Mason; step children Amy (Jeremy) Beatty, and Andy (Shannon) Beatty; grandchildren Hunter, Dalton, Cassidy, and Kayla Mason, Brittany Friesher, Colton Roley, and Atlanta Karshner, David, and Amber Felda, Kylie Searls, Elijah, Noah, and Jonah Beatty; great grandchildren; brothers Daniel, Jeff, and Ronnie Mason; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and step-son Allan Beatty.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:30 AM, in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Betty Jo would like to extend a special thank you to the Chillicothe VA staff and girls and sisters for the wonderful care and love shown to Bill and herself. She is sure the girls will always remember Wild Bill and his singing and jokes.
