William Y. “Bill” Bitler, age 74 of Lancaster died January 19, 2021 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born to the late Levi and Beatrice (Boucher) Bitler in Lancaster on Dec. 6, 1946. He was raised in Basil, OH not Baltimore, where he was a 1965 Liberty Union graduate. He was a truck driver for many years who attended Trinity United Church of Christ. He loved to drive especially Fords and he could tell you how to get anywhere. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary L. Bitler; children, Kelly A. Tolliver, Joseph D. Bitler, Mark L. Bitler and Matthew K. Bitler; step-children, Robert (Ashley) Walters, Michelle L . Walters, Jennifer A. (Jon) Markwood, and Matthew B. Arnett; grandchildren, Dalton, Ashley, Jaspen, Makala, and Whitney; step grand children, Taylor, Paige, Grace, Jakob, Jayna, Jack, Keegan, Kohen, Isabella, and Camden; great grandson, Karson; siblings, Shirley Hartman, Jack (Barb) Bitler, Lawrence E. (Barb) Bitler, and Peggy S. (Doug) Snider; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Levi M.J. Bitler.
Caring Cremation ™ has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place on Friday at 3PM at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Jill Dunlap.
