Wesley Marshall (Wes) Disney, 61, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away suddenly on Friday, February 24, 2017. He was born on August 18, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois.
Wes grew up in Ashland, Kentucky and graduated from Raceland High School in 1973, then attended Ashland Community College. He later became a journeyman electrician and remained a life-long member of the IBEW. He was a Mason, and a strong supporter of the Republican Party. He was an avid reader and was always bettering himself by trying to learn more about everything from classic cars to neuroscience. Wes thoroughly enjoyed art museums, was a lover of all kinds of music, and enjoyed cooking gourmet food for his family and friends. He particularly loved historical military weaponry, and was an expert in the field of historic and contemporary firearms. Wes had a passion for hunting and fishing, was an artisanal cheese enthusiast, and loved watching University of Kentucky basketball with his family.
Wes is survived by his wife of 24 years Susan, daughters, Sarah and Virginia of Lancaster, father, Donald B. Disney of Ashland KY, brother-in-law, Bruce (Dana) Layman of Rockledge FL, and a nephew, Shane Layman. He is also survived by many relatives and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis A. (Martin) Disney, and his mother-in-law, Eula F. Layman.
A memorial service lead by Reverend Dr. Brian Jones from the First United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO. Family and friends may visit 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
