Wayne O. McLaughlin

September 8, 1928 — November 16, 2016

Wayne O. McLaughlin, 88, of Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. He was born September 8, 1928, in Bremen to the late Clinton and Dorothy McLaughlin.

Wayne was a lifelong farmer and received many awards including Fairfield County Farmer of the Year and the 2012 Ohio Conservation Farm Family Award. He served in the United States Army as a tank driver during the Korean Conflict.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary McLaughlin; daughters, Cathy (Jeff) Benson and Karen Prochilo; grandchildren, Chris Benson, Aaron Benson, Hannah Benson, Paul Britch, and Jennifer (Eric) Wilson; great grandchildren, Miranda and Branden Wilson; sisters, Betty Weaver, Wanda Reed, and Imogene (Dean) McCullough; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clinton McLaughlin; daughter, Sharon Britch; brother, Eugene McLaughlin; and sister, Esther Wolfe.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Bremen. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Wayne.
