Wanda D. Shaner, age 57 of Lancaster, OH, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, in the comforts of her home.
She was born in Columbia, SC, the daughter of Betty Guinan.
Wanda graduated from Irmo High School in Columbia, SC with the class of 1975. From 1975 to 1979 she worked for the University of South Carolina. In 1979, she moved to Lancaster, OH and was united in marriage to Michael Shaner on February 23, 1980, in the Earlewood Baptist Church of Columbia, SC. In 1979, she started working for AEP in Human Resources, where she worked until 1981. In 2001 she began her career with Lancaster City Schools as a secretary at the high school and finished her career as an Assistant Payroll Clerk in the Treasurer's Office.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In her spare time she did crafts, sold Longaberger® baskets for over 20 years, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Michael W. Shaner of Lancaster; two children, James (Rachel) Shaner of Pleasantville, Jenna (Chris) Seward of Macomb, MI; six grandchildren, Ryan Seward, Chaney Seward, Tyler Seward, Jimmy Landis, Jonathan Landis, and Lukas Shaner; her mother Betty Guinan of Columbia, SC; a brother, James Guinan of Columbia, SC. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Lancaster, with Rev. Robert McDowell officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
