Virginia "Ginny" Gross Powell

Virginia “Ginny” Joyce Gross Powell, age 81 of Lancaster, Ohio returned home to her Heavenly Father on December 9, 2018. She passed from this earth life with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She was born on August, 27, 1937 to the late Earl Robert Gross and Nova Marguerite Lyons Gross. She married Raymond Frederick Powell on July 2, 1956, later sealed for all time and eternity in the Washington DC Temple.

Virginia was retired from Western Electric/AT&T with 31 years of service. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served the youth for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Tim) Clark, RaeJean (Randy) Smith and Kelly (Scott) Hale; 12 grandchildren, Isaiah (Emily) Smith, Anna Smith, Sandra (Micah)Bandurraga, Tara (August) Meyer, Samantha Rodriguez, Chantele (Mike) Lunt, Cameron (Whitney) Clark, Justin (BraeLynn) Crane, Nate (Katie) Hale, Anthony Hale, Andrea (Spencer) Leatham, and SaraJane Hale; 25 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Robert Earl Gross, sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma (Max) Pettit, Roberta (Dick) Laney and son-in-law, Donald Crane.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1071 Sheridan Dr., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Bishop Mark Holdcroft. Burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Family and friends may visit Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
