Virginia R. Bright, 92, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Main Street Terrace Care Center.
Virginia was born May 12, 1921, in Elkins, West Virginia. She moved to the Childrens Home when she was 9 years old and then to her foster mother, Charlotte McClausland, for 12 years when she met and married her husband, Charles Bright. She was a member of 6th Avenue United Methodist Church. She was also an avid gardener with an excellent green thumb and wonderful mother to 7 girls.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (John) Greene of St. Augustine, FL, Ruth F. Bowland, Dorothy Dunn, Virginia M. Axe, Linda L. (Terry) Eads, Betty Bright-Balthaser all of Lancaster, and Sharon (Ed) Yuhasz of Pickerington; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; special caregiver, Stephanie Samson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Bright; twin sons, John Andrew and Robert Kyle Bright; grandchild, Mark Greene; parents, Abraham and Annis Piercy; sister, Hope Woods; brothers, James, Charles, Coy, and Dee Piercy; and sons-in-law, James Bowland, Bill Dunn, James Axe, and John Balthaser.
Funeral service for Virginia will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Pastor Rick Jones officiating. Virginia requested that everyone wear bright colored clothes to the service. Burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service.
Donations may be made in memory of Virginia to 6th Ave United Methodist Church, 1004 W 6th Ave, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
