Valerie Kay Linn

Valerie Kay Linn, 49, of Lancaster, The Lord Jesus took Val’s hand and led her home on Friday, November 18, 2011.

Valerie’s greatest love was her family; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother a.k.a. G.G., daughter, and sister. She was a member of Faith Memorial Church where she also taught Sunday school for a number of years. A beautiful example of her giving and caring spirit could be seen as she volunteered at The James, helping others to fight the same battle she was going through herself.

Valerie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Mark Linn; children, Stephanie (Aaron) Daniels, Kay Linn, and Mark (Christyne) Linn; grandchildren, Valerie, Aaron, Ella, and Jackson; father and step mother, Jerry and Dottie Simonton; siblings, Lisa (Bud) Chilcote and Doug (Tammy) Simonton; brother-in-law, Frank (Sheila) Linn; sister-in-law, Linda (Bill) Harlow; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Tyler, Matthew, Andrew, and Zachary; and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Valerie was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Simonton; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rhea and Frank Linn.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday at Faith Memorial Church, 2610 W. Fair Ave, Lancaster, Ohio, with Pastors Mel Truex and Tony Salvatori officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Sugar Grove. Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Valerie's family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers during her courageous battle. Thank you to TS Tech - T.S.T.I. of Canal Winchester and thank you to the 10th floor staff at The James Cancer Hospital who always treated Valerie like a queen.
