Toni Starkey, 69 of Lancaster, Ohio, beloved wife, sister, and mother, died on March 5, 2012 having suffered a long illness. She was born July 28, 1942 in Lima, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Richard B. Davis and Frances Mae (Drury) Davis.
Crowned Homecoming Queen in 1959, Toni graduated from Shawnee High School in Lima in 1960 and went on to earn her BA from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1964. She worked for the National Security Agency (Department of Defense) at Ft. Meade, Maryland until her retirement from federal service in 1996. A former president of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Toni lived in Lancaster, Ohio with her family. She loved decorating and baking, and enjoyed donning the scarlet and grey in autumn for she was a great fan of Ohio State Football. She was the lovingly devoted mother of a special needs child.
Toni is survived by her husband of 21 years, Dan Starkey and beloved son James Davis Starkey; her sister Deborah Davis of Lancaster; her brother R. Michael (Xochitl) Davis of San Antonio, Texas; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her younger sister Cris Mathers of Corydon, Indiana.
Family and friends may visit 1 hour prior to the remembrance and celebration service on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCATER, OHIO 43130 with Rev. Thomas Rogers officiating. Caring Cremation has taken place.
