Thomas “Tom” E. Kilbarger, 66, of Lancaster, passed away at the Pickering House on Thursday, July 26, 2018.
Tom served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for Anchor Hocking, the City of Lancaster Cemetery Department, and Wears Construction. Tom also loved to devote his time to helping others including over 30 years as a volunteer with the Lancaster Festival and the Fairfield County Fair
Tom is survived by his wife, Sue Kilbarger; daughters, Amy Kilbarger and Kendra Kilbarger; step son, Kurt (Jennie) Lape; grandchildren, Noah and Six; step granddaughters, Lexie, Laynie, and Lenyn; siblings, Sue (Noah) Akers, Gary (Jean) Kilbarger, Mark Kilbarger, Mike (Cindi) Kilbarger, Danny Kilbarger, and Mary (Kent) Crist; mother in law, Wanda Good; and best friends, Ernie Schmelzer and John Holt.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Miriam Kilbarger and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUENRAL HOME, Lancaster. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster with military rites by the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Lifeline of Ohio, 770 Kinnear Road, Columbus, OH 43212 in memory of Tom who was the recipient of a heart transplant through the Cleveland Clinic in 2003 or the Lancaster Festival, 117 W. Wheeling St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in memory of Tom’s many years with the festival.
