Thomas Leo Joos, 82, died Saturday November 19th, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living Center. He was born January 19, 1934 to the late Edward H. and Hilda J. Spires Joos; the sixth of their 12 children. Tom served in the US Army from 1954 -1956 in the 3rd Armored Division, but to his disappointment never got to travel outside the USA. He served as tank commander in Ft. Benning, GA.
After the Army, Tom found a job with the J. I. Case Company and retired after 32 years. During those years, Tom and his wife traveled the world both as tourists and representatives of the Case Company. His fondest memory is of the months he and Lucille lived in Poland in early 1990 as the liaison to Poland’s farm machinery manufacturers. Tom also was a member of the Moose Lodge 955, the Amanda Lions Club, and St. Vincent De Paul in Phoenix, AZ.
Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Lucille Reid Joos; brother, Charles; and sisters, Clara Crook, Elizabeth and Jerome Laube
Tom was survived by his brothers, Francis “Bud” (Terri) , Phillip; sisters, Margaret Blake, Mary Mulroy, Dorothy Wright, Jean Schmelzer, H. Ann Hubble Kunkler, and Catherine (Donald) Emrick; sister in law, Shirley Joos and brother-in-law, Thomas F. Crook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the FairHoPe Hospice and the Pickering House, HomeInstead and Lincare, Drs. Bruce, Bartelles, Lepi, Varney and Pandya, and also the Brookdale Senior Living Center. We are grateful to all those associated with them and their employees for the loving care and service given to Tom.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday November 28th 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Mary of the Assumption, officiated by Fr. Craig R. Eilerman. A committal service will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery with the Lancaster Veteran Burial Detail. Family and friends may call on Sunday November 27th, at the FRANK E.
