Theresa Allen

Theresa Marie Allen, age 74, of Millersport went to her eternal life Monday, April 30, 2018.

She began her earthly life April 15, 1944, in New Lexington, Ohio daughter of the late Herman Edward and Anna Catherine (McGonagle) Keister. She was a 1962 graduate of St. Aloysius Academy in New Lexington. Theresa married James William Allen, Jr. April 8, 1967. They were married 42 plus years until his death January 31, 2010. Theresa was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Lancaster.

She made and decorated specialty cakes for her family and friends. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s music, sport events, and activities. Theresa worked for H. Roger Shay, OD for 22 years and then for Brett Dietz, OD at The Eye Site for 5 years. She retired in June 2006.

Surviving are her children, Amy (Bruce) Amspaugh and Paul (Barbara) Allen; grandchildren, Gary and Kayla Anderson; great-grandson, Lennix Zabonik; and family friend, Chelsie Zabonik; sisters, Wilma Kelly and Cora Kunkler; brother, Michael (Linda Hale) Keister; sister-in-law, Midge Keister; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces; cousins; and special cousins, Bob and Kathy McGonagle from Orland Park, Illinois.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosalie Hewitt, Juanita Reaver, Rita Mace, and Eileen Banks; and brother, Austin Keister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 3 at 10:30 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 324 Gay St (Rt. 188), Lancaster. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Garden, 351 Coonpath Rd, Lancaster. Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S. Main St, Baltimore, Ohio with a Vigil Service at 7:30 PM Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Mark Catholic Church’s Social Concerns.
