Stuart Ballengee

August 16, 1938 — February 20, 2013

Devoted husband and father, Dr. Stuart Francis Ballengee, age 74, of Baltimore, Ohio passed away on February 20th, 2013. He was born to Elizabeth and Donald Ballengee on August 16th, 1938 in Springfield, OH. As a young man he attended Ohio State University and later played college football at the University of Tennessee on scholarship while studying medicine. At U.T. he met his future wife Janet Howard and they were married for 51 years. After his Medical Doctorate from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine he served his residency in Chicago before establishing his own practice in Columbus. He later practiced at Fairfield Medical Center in Bremen until retirement. He enjoyed international travel with adventures in Scotland, Germany, France, Austria, Denmark, Iceland, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico and others. He was named after grandfather Carl Stuart Ballengee (“Stuart” coming from Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots). He enjoyed Scottish culture and was a member of Clan Munro USA. He loved large steaks, great beer, hang-gliding, fast boats, flying his Cessna and driving his Delorean over the speed limit. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, in Etna.

He is survived by his son Brandon and daughter-in-law Aurore Ballengee of NYC; his grandson, Victor Ballengee; his sister, Barbara McNally, niece Melissa Evans and nephew Chris McNally; cousins John Laird, Susan Laird and Charles F. Enck . He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Howard Ballengee and parents, Elizabeth Francis and Donald Ballengee.

A graveside memorial service will take place on Saturday April 6th, 3PM, at Basil Memorial Cemetery in Baltimore, OH. Services have been arranged through the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME. Online condolences can be made at www.funeralhome.com.
