Stephen “John” Asher of Lancaster, Ohio passed away November 7, 2022. He was born in Roda, Virginia, a small coal town in Appalachia. He grew up learning firsthand both the definition of poor and hard work. After a bit of wandering, including some time in Atlanta, Georgia he settled in Lancaster, Ohio. John worked on a golf course most of his life and loved working outside. He also enjoyed golfing himself as often as he could, though he always found a way to be frustrated by the game he loved. He delighted in Westerns, the older the better and for some reason tortured himself with the Atlanta Falcons on Sundays.
John is preceded in death by his parents James and Jewell (Carter) Asher; brothers Benjamin Lee Asher and James Asher Jr; and his loving wife Richarda “Elaine” Asher.
John is survived by siblings Doris Summers, Joe Asher, and Timothy Asher; son Chainie Anderson and family, Jen, Ally, Nate, Ben, and Emi; and one great grand-daughter Layla Claire he never actually got a chance to meet.
