Stephen Cornell

Stephen D. Cornell, age 69 of Buckeye Lake, died December 20, 2017 at Licking County Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1949 to the late James and Dorothy Bierley Cornell in Columbus. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in both the US. Army and then reenlisted in the Navy. He worked as a social worker and was a life member of the Buckeye Lake VFW; was in the movie “Brubaker”, loved playing his guitar and singing, and enjoyed painting. Stephen will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Mike Staffan; daughter, Michelle Bautista; grandchildren, Breana Hull, Mariah Brett, Alex Bautista, Brittany Staffan, Brandon Staffan, and Dakota Staffan; great grandson, Logan Douglas Medearis; sister, Linda Freisner; and nephew and niece, Terry and Toni Freisner.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:30AM at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster.
