Shirley M. Swartz 83 of Baltimore, OH, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Pickering House in Lancaster, OH.
Shirley was born on July 11, 1930 in Kenova, WV to the late Elijah and Nannie (Chrisman) Spencer.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Mike) Rehrer of Lancaster, OH; sons, Ralph Swartz, Jr. and Joe Swartz both of Baltimore, OH; grandchildren, Robin (Jeff) Mankin of Canal Winchester, OH, Jim (Lydia) McAvoy of Lancaster, OH, Steve (Danette) McAvoy of Canal Winchester, OH, Crystal Swartz and Bryce Rehrer both of Lancaster, OH; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Straub of Smithville, OH and Pauline Watts of Rittman, OH; sister-in-law, Arvada Harrington of Marysville, OH, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 2009, to whom she was married for 54 years; daughter, Karen McAvoy, son-in-law, Robert McAvoy, sister, Sylvia Chapman, brothers, Cecil and Elijah Spencer, Jr., half-brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Sharon Anderson for her friendship and care over the past few years, to the Pickering House, and to the Select Specialty Hospital at Mt. Carmel West.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OH 43105 with Dr. William Beausay officiating. Burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Friday form 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
