Shirley DeLong

Shirley J. DeLong, age 80, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Arbors at Carroll where she had been a resident since January 2015.

Before her stroke in 2013, she was active in her church and in nursing home visitation. She was always a hard worker and in her latter working years, a loving caregiver to the residents of the nursing facilities where she served.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Vickie L. (Wayne) Kazee of Groveport and Pamela J. (Duane) Robberts of Thornville; son, Robert S. DeLong of Columbus; step-sons, Paul D. (Patricia) Stevens of Pleasantville and Thomas A. Stevens of Lancaster; grandchildren, Paul Kazee, Shane, Luke, and Zack Robberts, Xavier and Alex DeLong, Peggy Stevens, Paula Cruit, Aaron Shaeffer, Angel Spencer, and Tommy Stevens; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie (David) Luck and Diane Queen; and brothers, Bud (Erma) Snyder and Jerry (Nancy) Snyder.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Robert V. DeLong; parents, Margaret and Raymond Snyder; sister, Sharon Stevens; brothers, Billy and Jack Snyder; step-son, Michael E. Stevens; granddaughter, Jerrie Bunner; and grandson, Tony Stevens.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Pastor William Syfert officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
