Sharon Kay Rager

Lancaster - Sharon Kay Rager, 80, died late Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at her residence. 

Sharon was born on December 2, 1943 in Nelsonville, OH to the late Evelyn and Howard Simonton. She graduated from Lancaster High School. She then married the love of her life David C. Rager on August 19, 1963. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2004. She furthered her education at Columbus State University receiving her Certified Dietary Manager Degree, where she went on to work at Crestview Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed spending her free time in her camper on the Mohican River with friends and family. 

Sharon is survived by her children Deborah (Craig) Picklesimer and David C. Rager Jr; grandchildren Erica (Chris) Clarke, Joshua Anders, Ashley Stump, Felicia Rager; great grandchildren Brooke Anders, Blake Anders, Aliyah Stump, Jacob Rager, Elizabeth Joplin, David Rager, Mariah Rager, Tiffany Rager, Ashlyyn Rager, Jeremyah Rager, Johnathan Stimmel; siblings Linda (Ed) Sullivan, and Dottie Simonton; significant other Robert Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews and the loving Dorsch family from Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her husband David C. Rager; siblings Donna, Larry and Jerry Simonton; Daughter in Law Jodie Rager; Son in Law Jeff Stump; granddaughter Tiffany Stimmel; parents Howard and Evelyn Simonton; Best Friend Marion Farnsworth; Niece Valerie Linn.

Calling hours will be Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 12 noon - 4pm, at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio. Funeral service will be held Monday, August 12, 2024 at 10am in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
