Sam Luca

Samuel Roy Luca passed away at the age of 47 on Saturday, February 2, 2019. He was born May 31, 1971 in Warren, OH to Nicholas J. Luca and Linda S. (Plummer) Luca.

A 1989 graduate of Southeast High School in Ravenna, OH, he went on to receive a degree of Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance from Columbus State Community College. He was ASE certified master mechanic and employed with Kreager Tire & Automotive, Millersport, OH.  Respected in the community as a hard- worker with a love to fix things for people, he enjoyed food and music of all flavors, singing and laughing, and spending time with friends and family.  Sam’s daughter Danielle, his “little girl”, brought out his gentle side and meant the world to him.

He is preceded in death by his father Nicholas Luca, mother Linda (Plummer) Luca and grandmother Alene (Pickrell) Plummer.

He is survived by wife, Kimberly (Grimm) Luca; son, Sean Phelan; daughters, Erin Fennell and Danielle Luca; grandchildren, Kasen Fennell and Silas Kraft;  step mother, Christine Luca; brother, Ralph (Angela) Luca; sisters, Melinda (Timothy) Patterson and Amanda Henrie; aunts, Diana Sirks and Linda Ciani; first cousin, Tina King; many nieces and nephews; and mentor, friend, and father-figure Rick DeLong.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Sam touched are invited to the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster, OH, 43130, for viewing from 5pm – 8pm on Wednesday February 6, 2019 and from 4pm – 6pm on Thursday February 7, 2019, service to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to offset funeral costs be sent to Smith’s Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH 43130.
