Ruth Fancher Dodson, 88, died peacefully on June 29th, 2015 at Primrose Retirement Community. On March 11, 1927, she was born in Messhoppen, PA, to the late Lloyd & Elizabeth Fancher. She graduated from High School in Montrose, PA. At one point in her career, she worked for the Department of Navy in the Pentagon. Ruth was married to two career naval officers and lived in VA, SC, HI, and FL, before coming to Ohio. She loved traveling, taking care of family, gardening, playing bridge, volunteering and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She was a proud Charter Member of the Tidewater Retired Officers Wives Club in Norfolk, VA.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen Taskey of Lancaster; grandson, Nicholas Taskey Cirivello of Charleston, WV; and stepdaughter, Mary (John) Parks of Fair Grove, MO. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, LCDR Stanley R. Taskey, and LCDR Ola A. Dodson; brother, Richard Fancher; and sister, Barbara Bobb.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church Chapel on Friday July 3rd, 2015 at 11AM with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place through the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date where she will be laid to rest by with her husband, Ola Dodson.
