Ruth E. Bennett 86 of Lancaster, Ohio died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Pickering House. She was born on August 14, 1927 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Elmer and Mary Bigham Franks. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Michael Bennett of Danville, Ohio, Robert (RoxAnn) Bennett, Stephen (Mary) Bennett all of Lancaster, Ohio, Donald (Betty) Bennett of Thornville, Ohio, George (Betty) Bennett of Pleasantville, Ohio, Anthony (Rita) Bennett, and Joseph Bennett all of Rockbridge, Ohio; daughters, bonnie Figgins of Lancaster, Ohio, Theresa (Tom) Spencer of Catlettsburg, KY, and Mary (Bill) Dittoe of Lancaster, Ohio; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Garnet Gordon of Lancaster, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bennett, sons, Francis Bennett, Sr. and Charles Bennett, parents, grandsons, George Bennett, Jr. and Francis Bennett, Jr., great-grandson, Eric Stevens, brothers, Ted and Paul Denney, and sister, Opal Woodward.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Gideon as Celebrant. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCATSER, OHIO 43130 with a Rosary Service Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in her memory.
