Russell D. Wilkes, 89, of Baltimore, died on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Pickering House.
Russell served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Kirkersville Apostolic Church and retired from Carr Manufacturing in Columbus. He we will be remembered as a loving and caring husband.
Russell is survived by his son, Richard T. (Gail) Wilkes of Mountlake Terrace, Washington; sister-in-law, Sandy (Tom) Carpenter of Leesburg, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Bud (Esther) Mason of Pleasantville and Calvin (Gladys) Wright of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents, Roy and Eva Wilkes; and siblings, Donald Wilkes, Betty Wright, and Louis Wilkes.
Funeral service for Russell will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Baltimore with Pastor David Darst officiating. Burial will follow in Union Evangelical Cemetery, Baltimore with military burial honors provided by the Baltimore Veterans Burial Detail . Family and friends may visit 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
