Rudolf "Rudy" Bader

January 8, 1937 — February 2, 2025

Lancaster

Rudolf "Rudy" Bader, 88, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Lancaster, Ohio. Born on January 8, 1937, in Germany, Rudy lived a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and passion.

In 1957, Rudy immigrated to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities. Shortly after arriving to New Jersey, he joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served his adopted country with honor until his discharge in 1964. A hardworking and skilled professional, Rudy spent over four decades as a Senior Supervisor at Wakefern in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was also a talented butcher whose expertise was widely respected. After 15 years in Monroe, NJ, Rudy & Aileen moved to Lancaster, Ohio to be near their daughters.

Rudy’s love for soccer was legendary. As the youngest player on the German Junior National League team, he demonstrated exceptional talent early on. After moving to the U.S., he continued to shine on the field and was named MVP of the New York/New Jersey League in 1957. Soccer remained one of his greatest joys throughout his life.

Beyond his professional and athletic achievements, Rudy was known for his vibrant personality and welcoming spirit. He was always the life of the party—quick to offer a drink and share a story over a glass of wine. A friend to everyone he met, Rudy had an extraordinary ability to connect with people and bring joy to those around him.

Family was at the heart of Rudy’s life. He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Aileen. Together they built a loving family that brought him immense pride and happiness. He is survived by his wife; their son Rudy (Jane); daughters Lisa (Scott) Deluse and Jennifer (Michael) Kennedy; and grandchildren Christina Bader; Thomas Wilbergh (Dana Nancy); Scotty, Eric (Cassidy Herold), Stephen (Isabelle), and Jordan (Payton Harvey) Deluse; and Ragan and Rory Kennedy.; Cousin Doris (John) Sekora; as well as numerous nieces and a nephew. Rudy cherished every moment spent with his family and especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He was predeceased by his parents Rudolf and Martha Bader; brother Hermann Bader; and sister Anita (Bader) Schmidtt.

Rudy’s legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him dearly.
