Rosetta Fay (Jackson) Budd, of Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, passed away at the age of 90. Rose was born on October 15, 1930 in Centerburg, Ohio, to the late Hamilton and Ollie (Johnson) Jackson, as the 4th of 10 children. As a military wife to former spouse Navy Chief Lee Douglas Gambill, she lived in Ohio, Florida, and Maine, devoted to raising two children while her husband was deployed. As a single mother in Licking and Fairfield Counties in Ohio, She worked in community restaurants, pubs, and factories. Rose was a matriarch enjoying all the generations of her large family. She loved nature - gardening, walking in the woods, or impromptu picnics. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards. Many of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews learned math while playing poker with Grandma Rose. Rose quietly helped many in need and will be missed by all who knew her.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; former spouse; and eight siblings: Lorene Fulk, Helen Fulton, Mini Jane Jackson, Harold Jackson, Roy Jackson, JoAnne Logue, Connie Huey, and Russell Jackson. She is survived by her two children, Jerry Lee Browning and Tommy (Jennie) Gambill; and eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Darla) Browning-Hutton, Mark Browning, Lyndsey (Timothy) Sloan, Brett (Tyler Burnett) Gambill, Tara (Scott) Staron, Richard (Megan) Gambill, Erin Wagner, and Tyler (Lilly Ward) Gambill; twelve great-grandchildren; sister Sherry Root; sister-in-law Cheryl Jackson; brother-in-law Ray Logue; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Tschopp Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105 with Chaplain Kermit Welty officiating . A live broadcast of the funeral service will be hosted on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page. In accordance with state mandates, COVID protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.
