Ronald "Ron" E. Lutz, 82, of Sugar Grove, Ohio passed away on February 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and kindness. He was born on April 4, 1941, in Lancaster, Ohio, a place that would remain near and dear to his heart throughout his life.
At just 14 years old, he started working in several grocery stores including Albers Supermarket, and ending at Carnival Foods. Ron also worked at Plants 1 and 2 of Anchor Hocking. His dedication and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on all those he encountered.
Described as hard-working and always willing to lend a helping hand, Ronald was a pillar of support for his family and friends. His love for bluegrass music and ceramics brought joy to those around him and showcased his creative spirit. Ron was also a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.
Ron is survived by his children, Mickey (Michelle) Montgomery, Ronda (Tony) Brown; grandchildren, Shane (Kady) Messina, Michael (Heather Thorne) Messina, Rachael (Jason Slone) Brown, Addison Brown, Nathan (Claire) Brown; great-grandchildren, Szandor and Jeordie Messina and Donovan Slone.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annabelle; wife, Linda Kay Gilmer; son, Ronnie Lutz; “sister”, MaryAnn Schamehorn and son-in-law, Rod Montgomery.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fairhope Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, OH 43130 or Antioch Alliance Church, 11947 Antioch Road, Logan, OH 43138.
Ronald's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that his kindness and hard work have touched the lives of many.
