Ronald L. “Ron” Moody, 80, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Ron was born December 24, 1936, the son of late Clara Friesner. A graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1955, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his service, Ron went on to a career as a dedicated Lancaster firefighter, built many wonderful long-lasting friendships and retired as a lieutenant. Ronald was a member of F.O.E. Aries 2120 and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 955.
If you were to ask Ron what he was most proud of in his life, there would be only one answer: his family. Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue (Webb) Moody; children, Margie Innis of Orono, Maine, Rhonda (Kevin) Graham of Charleston, SC, and Howard (Gloria) Moody of Lancaster, OH; grandchildren Ben (Emma Hornsby) Innis of Boston, MA, Nick Innis of Orono, ME, Emily Innis of Orono, ME, Sebastian Velez of Lexington, OH, and Bryan Metzger of Newark, OH; brothers and sisters-in-law, Honor (Donna) Friesner and Jim (Charlene) Friesner and brother-in-law, William Shull; special friends, Harry (Sandy) Hiles;
He was preceded in death by his mother, and beloved father-in-law, Howard Webb, brother, Terry Friesner and granddaughter, Amber Lee Moody.
Ron loved to work hard and play hard. He loved woodworking, bowling, fishing, and golfing. His unparalleled wisdom, common sense, kindness, compassion, and humor defined him as a person, and his approach to life inspired joy and warmth in everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
