Chief Master Sergeant of the Ohio Air National Guard Ronald Eugene Dillon, age 75, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 3, 2023.
Ronald was born August 13, 1947 to Virgil and Margaret Dillon. He retired after serving 36 years in the 121st tactical fighter/air refueling wing of the Ohio Air National Guard, stationed at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base. He spent 6 years with an engineering firm inspecting Air National Guard Bases around the country. Ronald was a member of the Lancaster American Legion for many years. And was a past member of the Carroll Lions Club.
He was a Lifetime member of the Lancaster First United Methodist Church. He sang in the chancel choir for 50+ years, as well as the Lancaster men's chorus.
Ronald was an avid bowler, inducted into the South Eastern Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. He spent many years golfing with family and friends. Ronald was a little league baseball coach. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved to fish with his buddy and friend Dale. Ronald also enjoyed going to Roosters with his pal Jeff.
He was an oil painter of many oil canvas prints, and won ribbons at the Fairfield County Fair. Ronald also made several beautiful wooden decorations and furniture.
Ronald leaves behind his wife of 52 years Emeline “Emmy” Dillion; sons Robert “Bob” (Karla), Christopher “Chris” (Laura); grandchildren Joseph, Joshua, Naomi, Hunter, and Samantha; great grandson Rowan; brother Thomas (Tamara); and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00. The funeral service will be Thursday, February 9, 2023 in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home at 10:30 AM. Followed by burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Post 11 American Legion, First United Methodist Church, or the Pickering House/FairHope Hospice.
