Roland Robinson, 82, passed away in his home in Baltimore, Ohio on Monday, September 11th.
Born January 7, 1941 in Booker Fork, KY, his Father was Garrett Hobert Robinson and his mother, Lina Robinson (Wright). Roland grew up with 6 brothers and 9 sisters. He left Kentucky as a young man to pursue work and additional education. Initially, he lived in Columbus, Ohio with his brothers while working several different jobs. It was shortly after that when he met Marilynne Bishop who he later married in 1961. Roland and Marilynne raised a beautiful family of 4; three daughters, Cheryl, Michele and Sonja and one son, Mike. They raised their family mostly in Thornville, Ohio and moved to Baltimore, Ohio around 1987.
Roland loved spending time with his family and always made sure they were a priority. He had several interests including music, especially BlueGrass, gardening, raising and managing an orchard, wine making, bee keeping, motorcycle riding, camping, boating and more. He truly was a man of many talents. Roland also enjoyed keeping busy with various projects. He was proficient with electronics, welding, light construction, automotive repair and almost anything he set his mind to.
After relocating to Ohio, Roland completed his GED. Later, he took several college courses while also working for Western Electric. He then retired early from Lucent Technologies after 34 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Marilynne; daughters Michele (Danny), and Sonja (Warren), and son Mike (Deena); grandchildren Jeffery (Bobbie), Mariah (Tim), Desi (Seth); great grandchildren Bella, Alison, Liam and Sebastien.
Roland is preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Robinson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 16th at 2 PM, in the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S. Main St. Baltimore, Ohio 43105. Visitation will be Friday, September 15th from 6-8 PM, and one hour prior to the service Saturday, September 16th from 1-2 PM.
