Roger Allen Guess

Roger Allen Guess, of Lancaster, went to be with his precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 14, 2021 at the age of 87.

Rog shared over 68 years of marriage with the love of his life, Luella “Lou”, who has survived him, along with his son, James (Cindy) Guess; daughter, Julie (Mike) Flowers; and sister, Mary Miller.

He was born on February 25, 1933 to the late Foster and Bernice Guess. He is also preceded in death by his sons, Roger and Michael Guess; and brothers, Wayne and Jerry Guess.

Rog was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Carroll, and lived his life as a good Christian man who loved and cherished his family and friends. Rog never met a stranger and never held a grudge against anyone. He was open, honest, outgoing and friendly with everyone he met. He spent his whole adult life helping others, and working as a carpenter for Shahan Builders, where he retired. Rog loved to work and loved life, he would measure the greatness of each day by the amount of work he was able to accomplish and the amount of time he could spend with friends swapping stories. He was the best husband, best father, and best friend anyone could possibly be blessed with and will be sorely missed.

A funeral service officiated by Dr. Robert Burnett will take place on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:30 PM in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH, 43130. Family and friends may visit 2 hours prior to the service Monday. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, at a later date. A live stream of the service will take place on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Facebook page. In accordance with state mandates, COVID protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the First Baptist Church of Carroll, at 51 Park Street, Carroll, OH, 43112.
