Robert Eugene "Bob" Bair

Robert Eugene “Bob” Bair, 87, of Baltimore, passed away peacefully at his residence, and surrounded by family, on May 2, 2021. He was born on July 25, 1933 to the late Elmer and Sophia Bair in Basil, OH.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Liberty Union High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. Bob served in the US Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed on the USS Iowa BB-61 where he was a Radar Man 3rd class. He was a member of the Plumber’s and Pipefitters Union Local 189, a lifetime member of the Baltimore VFW Post 3761, and refereed for 20 years for high school football and basketball. Bob attended the Trinity United Church of Christ, and enjoyed spending time with family, picnics, sporting events, and traveling. Bob was also an avid OHIO STATE fan!

Bob is survived by his children, Cathy Rice, Gary (Melissa) Bair, and Bobbie (Kenny) George; grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Faught, Brent Bair, Kenny (Sarah) George, Kendra (Kevin Eby) George; great grandchildren, Jacob, Tristan, Natalie, Eliot, Sophia, and Evelyn; future great grandchild, KJ; sisters, Eileen Underwood, and Patsy Oldaker; brother, Larry Bair; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Karen Ruble.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Darlene Bair; sister, Mary Lott; brother, Carl “Cub” Bair; and parents.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Jill Dunlap will take place on May 5, 2021 at 1 PM in the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore, OH, 43105. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends may visit from 4-7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
