Willis
Robert Earl Willis 88 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Lanfair Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was a World War II US Marine Corp. veteran and a retired railroad engineer for Penn Central Railroad with 29 years of service. He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church and a Church Deacon for 25 years. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge, F.O.E. Aries 2120, United Transportation Union, Ohio Thoroughbred Horsemens Association, and Marine Corp. League. His greatest passion was his family and raising and racing thoroughbred horses.
He is survived by is wife of 62 years, Peggy Willis; daughter, Kelly (Doug) Petty of Commerce, Michigan; grandchildren, Josh Petty of Chicago, Illinois, Jeremy Petty of St. Augustine, Florida, and Rachel Petty of Commerce, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Stella Willis, 3 sisters, Juanita Hutsler, Betty Baker, and Margaret Ann Wills.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. John C. Davidson officiating. Burial to follow in Forest Rose Cemetery with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the FRANK E.SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
