Robert Vanvelzor

Robert E. Vanvelzor, age 82 of Thurston, died on May 19th, 2017 at his residence. He was born on March 28th, 1935 in Somerset to the late Carsey and Ellen Fletcher Vanvelzor. He served his country in the US Army and retired from the Baltimore Paper Mill. He loved wood working creating an amazing kitchen for his wife and enjoyed his Chevy cars. Robert will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ruckman Vanvelzor; caregivers and and nephews, Michael (Joyce) King, Alex Starkey and Mac Starkey; Aunts, Louella Baughman, Patricia Heistand, brother-in-law, Richard Ruckman; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lee Vanvelzor.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at Noon at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may visit 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
