Robert McClaskie

Robert Eldon McClaskie, age 84, of Sugar Grove, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died peacefully April 18, 2012, in Venice, Florida. Born December 14, 1927, to the late Thomas E. and Golda Marie (Wilson) McClaskie.

Bob retired from Columbia Gas Transmission after 40 years of service. He was a graduate of London High School and served his country in the United States Navy as a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the South Gate Potter Lodge #782 F&AM, Canal Winchester.

Bob was also preceded in death by his brothers, Max E. McClaskie and infant Jack; and grandson, Chad Ray Beller.

Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Vivian McClaskie; children, Bruce E. McClaskie, Linda E. (Steve) Beller, Brian E. (Dianne) McClaskie, and Carol E. (Jake) Jacob; grandchildren, Brett Jason (Megan) McClaskie, Channing Beller, Melody (Kris) Huwe, Barret E. (Brianna) McClaskie, Bevin (Joshua) Beaver, Bowie E. McClaskie, Cole (Jenni) Jacob, Alexandria (Cody) Sanborn, and Stevie Rae Jacob; great grandchildren, Nola, Alyssa, McKenzie, Kassidy, Dooley, Nicholas, and Dylan. Bob is also survived by Vivian’s daughter, Sharon Bell; son, Charles “Chip” (Pat) Carothers; grandchildren, Charles Carothers, Jr., and Tara (Michael) Manning; great grandchildren, McKenna and Michael; sister, Doris E. Larkin; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Reverend Kandy Nuce officiating. Burial will follow in Stukey Cemetery, Sugar Grove with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites. Family and friends may visit from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:30 pm conducted by South Gate Potter Lodge #782 F&AM.
