Robert Layne

Robert Keith Layne, 82, of Carroll, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Pickering House.

Robert was a member and Deacon with the Pickerington Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Carroll Senior Citizens and an avid Indiana Hoosiers fan, from his many years living in Logansport, Indiana. Robert had a great sense of humor and loved life.

Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Layne; daughter, Lori J. (Gregory R.) Hall; grandchildren, R. Joseph (Sarah J.) Lohr, Benjamin (Sarah R.) Lohr, and Abigail Hall; great grandchildren, Bayley, Ellie, and Jack Lohr; sisters, Barbara (Jim) Layne and Deborah (Greg) Sallee; brothers-in-law, Larry Alder and Kenneth (Doris) Knox; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Marie Layne; son, Robert Knox Layne; parents, Thelma and Elbert Layne; mother and father-in-law, Nora Marie and Eulon Knox; five sisters; and one brother.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the Pickerington Church of Christ, 9645 Stoudertown Rd, Pickerington, Ohio 43147 with Minister Anthony Rex officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors by the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail. Friends may visit from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster.
