Robert “Bob” E. DeLong 91 of Lancaster, Ohio went home to be with his Lord on Friday, April 13, 2012 at LanFair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He worked as a glazier in Lancaster and Columbus for 45 years and was a member of Word of Promise Family Church. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and spent many hours working his yard. He was musically inclined and enjoyed playing his harmonica.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Peggy “P.J.” (Joseph) Hoover of Bremen, Ohio and Roberta (Charles) Milliser of Lancaster, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Jamey Williamson, Penny (Bill) Noble, Barry (Nancy) Milliser, Brian (Natalie) Milliser, and Chrystal (Mike) Jones; 17 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathleen DeLong of Lancaster, Ohio, Jeanne Muck of Amanda, Ohio and Marcie and John Mericle of Bremen, Ohio; nieces and nephews. A thank you to the staff of LanFair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and especially those in Spirit Hall.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Mary Muck Delong in 2008, parents, Clay and Cora Ford DeLong, sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Paul Miller, brothers and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Rachael DeLong and Harold “Hoot” DeLong. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor David Dilger officiating. Burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be given to the Word of Promise Family Church, 350 Park St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
