R. Mark Bibler

April 23, 1956 — January 10, 2023

Lancaster

R. Mark Bibler, age 66 of Lancaster, died January 10, 2023.  He was born in Lancaster on April 23rd, 1956. He was a 1974 LHS graduate and obtained both his B.S. and J.D. from OSU.   He was a well known Attorney who was a partner at Dagger Law and was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church.

If a short phrase could completely describe Mark Bibler, it would be “a good man.” Mark was dedicated to his family and work, and was a truly giving and caring person of great integrity. His mild-mannered nature hid an extremely dry sense of humor.  His granddaughters adored him; he always let out his inner child when he was with them.  He loved to travel all over the country with his wife, Julie, visiting new cities and his sons and granddaughters, and to watch the Reds, Bengals, and OSU when he was home.

Over his lifetime, Mark served on a number of boards of trustees, including the American Red Cross, Fairfield Industries, the Fairfield County Division of the American Heart Association, Lancaster Kiwanis, United Way of Fairfield County, the Fairfield County Foundation, and the Lancaster Parks Board of Commissioners, of which he was the secretary at the time of his death.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 42 years and high school sweetheart, Julie Bibler; sons, Adam (Annie Ebbers) Bibler and Michael (Katie Oppenlander) Bibler; grandchildren, Audrey, Antje, and Madalyn; mother, Ruth Bibler; sister, Leigh Ann (Rick) Bagby; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Bibler and father and mother –in-law, Bruce (Margaret) Anderson.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, January 16th, 2023 at 11AM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130 officiated by the Rev. Dr. Brian Jones.  Family and friends may call from 9AM until 11AM at the funeral home.  A private interment of his cremains will take place at Forest Rose Cemetery at a later date.  Donations can be made in Mark’s name to the Fairfield County Humane Society, 1721 Granville Pike, Lancaster, OH 43130.
