Richard “Dick” Lee Barber, 88, of Lancaster, fought a good fight, finished his race, and went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Main Street Terrace Nursing Center.
Quiet and gentle, Dick will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. His love of God showed daily in his walk and in his carefully shared words. He taught many to love and serve Jesus; God remains faithful. He was a member of the First Church of God and was a Korean Conflict veteran serving in the US Army. Dick retired from Ralston Purina as a vitamin technition.
Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty (Groff); three sons, Richard (Gina), David (Bonnie), and Jeff (Brenda); eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a brother, John (Louise) Barber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Anna Barber, sisters, Linda Mast and Annabelle Dennison and brothers, Sam and Paul Barber.
The family wants to thank the staff at Main Street Terrace and FairHoPe Hospice for their kindness and gentle care.
Caring Cremation® is being handled by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, LANCASTER, OH. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God, 732 E. Sixth Ave., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with 1 hour of calling prior to the service at the church.
