Richard E. Mattox

Richard E. Mattox, 87, of Reynoldsburg, was called home with the Lord Friday, March 31, 2023.

Richard was born in Lancaster, Ohio, June 21, 1935 to Earl and Nola (Woodgeard) Mattox. Richard was an avid member of the community, having served in the US Army, and was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, and Shriners.

Richard’s passion for community extended to his life’s work, providing entrepreneurs with the opportunity to succeed in life. He is lovingly remembered by many and we are all blessed for having had him in our lives.

His love of football was second to none, as he often fondly recounted playing on the Lancaster High School team and never missed an OSU football game.

Richard is survived by his lifelong companion Mertie; daughter Kristina (Jennifer) Mattox; granddaughter Kathryn Mattox; son Edwin “Skip” (Mariel Bermudez) Mattox; and brother Danny M. Mattox.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles H. Mattox; and sister Margaret M. Mattox.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. A graveside service, with Masonic Funeral Rites, will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM, located at 351 Coonpath Rd NE, Lancaster OH 43130.
