Richard Forest Kuhn passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024 after a brief illness, with Janice Balser Kuhn, his wife of 64 years, and other family members at his side. He was 91 years old.
Dick Kuhn was the second and only surviving child of Forest Maywood Kuhn and Evelyn Marie Parker Kuhn (later known as Evelyn Parker Donaldson). Dick is survived by his son Richard and his wife Margo Kuhn and their children, by his daughter Lisa Kuhn Dyke and her husband Joel Dyke of Essex Junction, Vermont and their children, and by his son Steve and his wife Lisa Kuhn, of Baltimore, Ohio and their children, and great grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews.
Aside from overseas service in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, Dick Kuhn’s life work was operating the family dairy farm on Blacklick Eastern Road, which he ran from the early 1950’s until only a short time ago. He was also a partner in Kuhn Turf Equipment, which is located on the family’s farm, along with his wife Janice and sons Rich and Steve. In addition to farming with Janice, Rich, and Steve, Dick often worked closely on farm chores with his beloved nephews Rick Stillwell and Rob Stillwell, both of Baltimore, Ohio.
Dick will be remembered for his mechanical genius and creative frugality, for his love for farming and farm machinery, for his affable friendliness and gentlemanly courtesy, for his dry, soft-spoken humor, for the twinkle in his eyes, and for his love and devotion to family.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to the many caregivers at Home Instead and Fairhope Hospice for their tireless and tender caregiving in our time of need. May God bless you all.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at New Zion Methodist Church with Lay Speaker Bob Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Union Evangelical Cemetery. Family and Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to New Zion Methodist Church, 10991 Snyder Church Rd NW, Baltimore, OH 43105 or Fairhope Hospice 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in his memory.
