Rev. Thomas V. McGranor, 84, of Lancaster, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 23, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born on July 11, 1934, in Newark, Ohio.
Thomas worked as an educator for several years before becoming a Pastor with the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he served for 40 years. During that time he served as Pastor at several churches in the West Ohio Conference including; Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg, Spencerville Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville, and First United Methodist Church in Ironton. After retirement, Thomas and Barbara settled in the Lancaster area and Thomas continued to work for many years as a grief specialist and chaplain with FairHoPe Hospice in Lancaster, substitute teacher in several Fairfield County Schools, licensed funeral director, and Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County.
Thomas was an avid bowler and golfer until he was no longer able to play. He enjoyed acting and being involved with community theater in the many towns he and Barbara called home. And he loved being a grandparent, spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his children, Mary M. (Rick) Dziak of Marblehead, Ohio and Florida, Joellen K. (James) Anderson of Pleasantville, Ohio, Mark A. McGranor of Lancaster, and Tim (Nichole) McGranor of Columbus; grandchildren, Sarah (Mat) Swanton, Daniel (Katherine) Dziak, Maryellen Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Audrey Anderson, Claire Anderson, and Sydnie Purcell; great grandchildren, Cora and Quinn Swanton, and Branik, Adler, and Koen Dziak; and sister, Karen Sue Graeber.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara E. McGranor in 2010.
Thomas’ family is grateful to the caretakers at Reflections for the loving care they provided. A private family service will be held at a later date. Thomas will be interred with his wife Barbara in Tschopp Cemetery, Pleasantville.
