Rebecca S. Ety

Rebecca S. Ety, 82, of Pickerington, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024 surrounded by her family at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. She was born on February 18, 1942 in Baltimore, Ohio to the late Bruce and Bea Orr.

She was a graduate of Liberty Union High School Class of 1960 and The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in music education Class of 1964. She was a music teacher for over 35 years at Pickerington Local Schools. She was a lifelong member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Baltimore, Ohio where she and Ivan were married on August 2, 1964. She was a member of the Fairfield County Farm Bureau Council #1 and was active in her retired teacher’s group, seldom missing any event.

Becky spent her life being a servant of the Lord through her involvement with different activities at Christ United Methodist Church. She touched many individuals within the community by leading ministries such as the church bell choir which she founded, the creator of the senior lunch program, annual craft show, “Sending Love Over There” program, as well as many others throughout the years.

Becky was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and loved attending her grandchildren’s activities throughout the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Rob) Alton of Hilliard; son, Andy (Mindy) Ety of Baltimore; grandchildren, Rachel Alton, Alison Ety and Austin Ety; sister, Emilie (Carl) Hickman of Florida; sister-in-law, Vera (Mike) Kellner; brother-in-law, Russ Ety Jr; nieces and nephews, Greg (Amy) Hickman, Jeff Hickman, Kendra Vessey, and Keri Culliver; and many wonderful great nieces and nephews.

Becky was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ivan Ety; parents, brother Thomas E. Orr and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Ruth Ety.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Raypholtz officiating. Burial will follow in Union Evangelical Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 4-8 pm. at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore, Ohio 43105 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
