Rebecca E. Young Blackstone, 73, of South Charleston, West Virgina, passed away December 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Baltimore, Ohio.
Born September 12, 1951, Becky was the daughter of the late William Clayton "Bill" Young and Dorothy Joann Young. Becky is survived by her husband, Richard Keith Blackstone; her three children, Brian (LeEllen) Blackstone of Baltimore, OH, Erin (Kurt) Berlekamp of Millersport, OH, and Justin (Jennifer) Blackstone of Lancaster, OH. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings; William R. Young (Debby) of Bozeman, MT, Janice Hoffman (Terry) of Atlanta, GA, and Timothy M. Young (Jane) of St. Albans; 7 cherished grandchildren (Leia, Nicholas, Emily, Jacob, Caroline, Claire, and Jaden); and many treasured nieces and nephews.
Becky was a 1969 graduate of St. Albans High School where she was involved with the school choir and tennis team. After attending almost two years of college at Fairmont State University, where she was a majorette, a member of the Alpha XI Delta sorority, and homecoming queen, she and Richard married on December 27,1970, and moved to Canada while Richard played professional baseball. Other than these first two years of marriage, they created and spent their entire life together on the Blackstone Family farm in Baltimore, Ohio. Becky returned to college to study elementary education and earned her undergrad from Ohio University. She then received her Masters Degree from Ashland University. A retired school teacher with over 30 years of service in the Lancaster City Schools and Liberty Union-Thurston Local School District, she was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Baltimore community. Her unwavering faith, steadfast determination, and love for her family defined her life.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 South Main Street, Baltimore, OH. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16th with calling one hour prior at the Christ United Methodist Church, 700 South Main Street, Baltimore, OH, with Rev. Michael Raypholtz and retired Rev. Dr. William R. Young officiating. Graveside services will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Garden, 351 Coonpath Road NE, Lancaster, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Fairhope Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, OH 43130, or Christ United Methodist Church of Baltimore.
