Raymond Sims

Raymond Thomas Sims, 73, of Thurston, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 13, 2011.He was born January 5, 1938, in Brice, OH to the late Raymond and Laura (Barnes) Sims.

He was a landscaper all his life and loved the outdoors. Since his retirement he took care of his fish pond, his flowers, helping his neighbors and enjoying bologna with his great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his companion, Doris Vickers; his children, Cindy (Terry Whitt) Banner and Tom Sims; her children, Pam (Roger) Sanders, Tom Vickers, Steve Vickers; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Siblings, Ed (Charlotte) Sims, JoAnn Gigante', Gary Sims, and Pam (Gene) Folk; also many cousins, and lots of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Don Sims and her son, Tim Vickers.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 22nd at 2 PM at Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S Main St., Baltimore, OH 43105.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 870 Michigan Ave, Columbus, OH 43215 or to a charity of donor’s choice.
