Raymond Powell

Raymond F. Powell, age 75, of Lancaster, returned home to his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2011. He passed from this earth life at home surrounded by his loved ones, after 14 years of a lengthy illness. He was born on March 31, 1936 to Charles William Powell and Mary Rebecca Kohler Powell. He married Virginia Joyce Gross Powell July 2, 1956, later sealed for all time and eternity in the Washington D.C. temple. He is a veteran of the U.S. army. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as a Bishop for nine years and other various callings. He was a former member of the Classic Cruisers and had a love for old Fords.
Survived by his wife, Virginia, daughters, Sue (Tim) Clark, Rae Jean (Randy) Smith, Kelly (Scott) Hale, 12 grandchildren, Isaiah (Emily) Smith, Anna Smith, Sandra Schwartz, Tara (August) Meyer, Samantha Rodriguez, Chantele (Mike) Lunt, Cameron (Whitney) Clark, Justin Crane, Nate (Katie) Hale, Anthony Hale, Andrea (Spencer) Latham, Sarajane Hale, 10 great grandchildren, brother, Ronald (Sharon) Powell. He was preceded in death by parents, sister, Joanne Carroll, Mary (Charles) Hamilton, Jean Ringhiser, brother, Charles "Buddy" Powell, and son-in-law, Donald Crane.
A service will be held at 11AM Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1071 Sheridan Dr. Lancaster, OH 43130 officiated by Bishop Joel Carroll. Family and friends may call at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME on Sunday from 6 until 8PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Caring Cremation will take place following the service.
