Ray L. Spafford

Raymond (Ray) L. Spafford Jr, 58, of Sugar Grove, passed away at OSU Wexner Medical Center on Monday, November 25, 2024. He was born in Columbus on April 3, 1966, to the late Raymond Leroy Spafford Sr and Marilyn Jean (Konkler) Garner

Ray was a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars, especially Chevy’s, they were his favorite. Ray loved being a camp host at Deer Creek every summer. He liked going to Hollywood Casino with his friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

Ray is survived by his children, Chelsey Spafford and Devon Hines; partner of many years, Nancy Horn; her son Adrian Horn; grandchildren, Bryce, Blake, Jadence, Nyliah, and Zayleigh; brother, Robert (Liz) Spafford; aunts and uncles, Scheryl Estepp, Ginny Milner, Marjorie (Steve) Wheaton, William Konkler, Steven (Roberta) Chilcote; special niece, Cassie (Jesse) Cade; special friends, Skip Brown, Howdy (Howie) Shell, Judy Long, Chad Long, Daniel Miller, Diane Williams and Mark Shahan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Leroy Spafford Sr and Marilyn (Thomas) Garner; paternal and maternal grandparents; special friends, Jerry Miller and Sharon Horn; sister Virginia Nibert; and grandson Blake Spafford.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at noon at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Helser officiating. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, 1965 Lutheran Church Rd Se, Lancaster, OH, 43130.
